This course lays the foundation for doctoral-level study of public affairs, focuses on the role of institutions in democratic societies, including analyses of how institutions arise and shape decision making and policy outcomes. Topics may include the importance of the nonprofit sector, government spending and finance, program evaluation or performance management. This course also facilitates development of dissertation research ideas.
